Wallpaper sample fun!

Now we have our stall, we've been on the hunt for some inspiration for the perfect decor! Making sure it enhances our space while in keeping with our playful brand.

For a while we've been gathering quite a collection of different wallpaper samples, attempting to decide on the right one. Floral is just everywhere, it can't be escaped and most of the prints on offer, seem quite obvious for our "vintage/retro" theme & are already extremely popular. This is why we were really happy when we come across the idea of putting our samples to a good use, we sorted through the different prints, squared off any rough edges and experimented with different arrangements to see if the colours clashed ENOUGH - yes "enough" - the more colour & bolder prints the better (for us)!

Although we have stuck with floral patterns, we have tried to mix it up by using different flower prints & colours. Some flowers are more enlarged or more detailed than others, also a range of colours...Its a great idea for those who can't decide, especially as there are so many pretty wallpapers to choose from! The best thing about this project is - there are no rules... you can make it suit your needs. Maybe you want something more softer, you could do this by complimenting the colours and choose from a desired colour palette OR go bold like us and create a colouful, fun backdrop!

Some of the samples above are from Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, B&Q and Homebase. Pictures will be posted once its all done, can't wait to see the final outcome! Hope this inspires you all to some easy (& cheap) DIY!

Wishing you all a very happy weekend x

Busy Busy Beeeee

Here at OHMY POLKA we have been super busy arranging items for our new stall opening! For a few years now we have been selling vintage/retro & collectable items on eBay but we have now decided to make this more full time so come & visit us at The Fleetville Vintage Emporium (Unit 11) in St.Albans where you will find a mix of treats!

Here is our doily heart home garland kit which contains 24 hearts & 6ft twine. The hearts are a mix of colours & patterns - as you can see from the pics they look super cute! To finish of your garland we also supply you with 6ft of twine, this will either be coloured or a natural twine for that rustic feel...keep your eyes peeled as these are soon to be on sale!

I better get back to some crafting as have lots to do, I will be making our facebook page live soon where you will be able to keep up-to-date with our ever changing stock! I will post some photos of our new stall once its sorted! Have a happy weekend guys x

Happy Sunday!

Hey guys!

How have you all enjoyed your Sunday? I've spent the day making a jamie oliver recipe - which was a yummy vanilla and raspberry cheesecake!

Check my loooovely weekend finds... that I just couldn't resist buying...

1. A set of glass tumblers, a complete fan of the pastel green and gold lines!

2. Place on a wall with other frames or mirrors of different sizes/shapes - create a collection of vintage mirrors. Like this...

Or why not adventure outdoors with this idea too...

3. The wicker bodice is for now, set up in the living room with fairy lights wrapped around it, finding items like this make me happy! I may even try hanging it from a height with items hanging from it or dressing it with jewelry...

Magnetic Wallpaper by Sian Zeng

WOW WOW WOW - this has got me so excited!!!! So, while browsing for some new wallpaper I discovered Sian Zeng's magnetic wallpaper - its one of those "i wish i designed this" moments!
The papers are all printed using eco-friendly inks and then installed over a magnetised liner! Not only is this just a great idea, but the designs Sian has created are super beautiful and come complete with her own magnetic characters to fit with your desired choice! The innovation of this idea excites me, especially when I think of how interactive this design can be in a family home-  think of the amount of fun  the young will have!

You could also use the wallpaper to stick your own photos/drawings/posters - create a wall of memories! You can take a look at more of her work (& buy) online here
